  14. <p>    DIED. Hughes Rudd, 71, veteran TV newsman at CBS, of a heart
  15. aneurysm, in France. Rudd, a pungent, gravelly-voiced,
  16. suspender-wearing social commentator, started his career in
  17. newspapers, then served for CBS in Moscow and Bonn before
  18. becoming co-anchor of the CBS Morning News in New York. His
  19. incisive writing, keen eye for detail and Murrow-like demeanor
  20. made him a legend at CBS.
